October 26, 2022 - Weak Turnout, Strong Mandate? Ford Fightin Testifyin; Explosive Fireworks Warning

With voter turnout as low as 21% in some Ontario cities, can Mayors really claim they have a "strong" mandate? Do voters (or could-be voters) simply not care, or are there other factors at play?
Premier Doug Ford says he "hasn't been asked to testify" at the Emergencies Act inquiry, so he won't. What's worse for Ford: the optics of avoidance or going on the record? Furthermore, does the average Canadian even care about these proceedings?
Environment Canada walked back an air quality warning citing Diwali fireworks...but did they have to? If it's true, why not own it? Bigger picture: are the days of fireworks and fighter jet fly-overs numbered?
